Families Anonymous is a world-wide collaboration of family and friends who have been hurt due to somebody else's abuse of mind-altering substances or behavioural problems. It has groups, which grow throughout the whole nation and meet frequently. Even if there is only a suspicion of a problem, any concerned individual is deeply encouraged to attend the meetings.
FamAnonmAnonwas established by a group of families in America in 1971. They started their first group in London in 1980, and now around 50 groups are working in different areas of the country.
12 Steps and 12 Traditions, first used by Alcoholic Anonymous, are the basis of the self-help society, the Fellowship and its programme.
How Can We Help?
The aim of the group is to provide mutual support and to offer a forum where experience and anxieties can be shared to family and friends of people with current suspected or former drug problem. The group members learn how to live with the issues that are affecting their lives.

FamAnon, formed in the UK in 1971 by a group of affected Los Angeles families, run similar Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous program. In UK, the first FamAnonmAnongroup began in 1980 and the number has grown to 50 groups located in different parts of the country.

Families Anonymous works in so many ways. Its core strength originates from sharing of general issues. No fee is required for membership or meetings. FamAnon does not ask for, neither accepts any money from sources outside of the organisation. FamAnonmAnonis funded by voluntary donations from the members and by the sale of the FamAnonmAnonbooks and other writing forms, while everything is run by volunteers.
